Sound Works recently moved our studios and offices from a corporate office building with a view of Buffalo Bayou to a single- family home, albeit quite different from a typical house. The move was actually only two miles north of our old location, yet it seems miles from the hustle and bustle of the corporate world.
My drive to work now consists of leaving my home off Westheimer and driving through the Memorial area to my other HOME, I mean… office, off Antoine and I-10. Tough commute, huh? Everyone, seeing 7110 Gary for the first time, has said, “What a great vibe this place has!” For us all, he feeling is much more laid back and, dare I say, creative. Believe me, it is far more sane to discuss a project overlooking the swimming pool than a typical corporate conference room.
What I think is really cool is going from the living room with its flat screen TV and Wii gaming system into Studio A, just off the kitchen. Or climbing the winding staircase to Studio B, with its fireplace and large windows overlooking the oaks. Now, don’t misunderstand me, these are NOT “home studios” but professionally designed and equipped audio rooms. Both studios have ProTools HD workstations and video assist in the control rooms and voice booths for sound-to-picture and ADR for motion pictures. Connect your laptop to our WIFI, check your email, edit copy, or book your vacation while we do what we do so well.
So come on over – You’re welcome in my new home. Bring your swimsuit as the pool and HOT TUB are always available to soothe you. And I’m just itching to fire up the grill….
